LabF PC Xserver has been renamed from XWinPro to WinaXe

LabF PC X Server was called XWinPro until version 5.3 . Starting from version 6.0 the name is WinaXe. All licensed XWinPro users are entitled to upgrade to WinaXe with reduced update price. See price list for options and categories.

Why new name? 

During the years (starting 1993) we have received numerous messages that carried the product name written with all the possible combinations that one can get from words X-Window System and Professional. 

Just to list some of them, XWinPro was called: XWindowsPro, Pro Xwin, Xwin Pro, Win X, WinProx, ProWinX, ProXWin, XServerPro, XTermPro etc.

We have come to conclusion that the name was too hard to memorize and that we need to get a new name to avoid any unnecessary confusion. As we started to think about the new name we definitely wanted it to continue to carry at least the elements "X" and "Win". Win stands for Windows and also associates the name to winning. "X" comes from X-Window System and is naturally the key element of our application. We also wanted to have some element from real world completely away from computing. We ended up to adopt word "axe" as it

 already contains the letter "X", but further more as axe is a simple but powerful tool that people have used from the beginning of the mankind making better future for themselves.

We hope WinaXe helps you to build your computing environment closer to perfect desktop and assists you to clear your way in the jungle of different operating systems.

What does the WinaXe do?

Many corporate networks typically include Linux and Unix servers that host their most critical applications, while the network users stick with the familiarity of Windows. WinaXe lets you use any and all of the remote applications from inside your Windows desktop. With WinaXe, you can monitor, run and access all applications, just as though you were sitting in front of your Linux/Unix box.
